I love the beauty of the molten glass, how it has its own light and integrity. — JM
Judy McManus received a BFA from Western Carolina University in 1977. Her major concentration was mixed media, especially as it related to fiber and glass. She felt that the two mediums had a contrasting appeal which interested her as both an artist and a viewer. Pursuing her fascination with glass, Judy continued her studies as a graduate student at WCU. Just a few hours shy of her graduate degree, Judy quit the program for personal reasons.
Over the last two years Judy has returned to glassblowing with renewed energy and a fresh perspective. Working mainly in high quality clear glass, she has enjoyed exploring the properties and simplicity of this pure medium.
CLASSES
Judy specializes in wine glasses, champagne flutes, flower vases, and other table-top items, generally working in clear glass and using sand-blast techniques to highlight her pieces. Judy is glad to take on brand-new students who want to learn a bit about glass, or more experienced students who want some guidance creating sets of stemware.
